The thing that’s changed my business this year

Hi Reader,

For a long time, I struggled to build community in my business. I’m not a social media person — it’s just not how I like to make connections — and I had built friendships with a few close business friends and collaborators over the years, but it was a small circle.

And for the most part, that was fine! It allowed me to focus and block out the noise when otherwise comparison would have slowed me down.

But as I grew and became more established, it got a little… lonely.

My IRL friends and family are amazing cheerleaders but they’re not the people I can ask, “how are you handling this thing?” or “do you have a tool / resource / person you’d recommend for X?” or “does everything feel weird right now to you too?”

So a couple of years ago, I started becoming more intentional about building more peer-to-peer friendships, and it’s made all the difference. Not only do I have a remarkable network of people that I can recommend to clients when the need arises, but I feel more connected and less alone.

Next week I’ll be opening up registration to a new (free!) panel discussion I’m hosting on transforming your brand from invisible expert to a known authority. It’s going to be AWESOME… and every single one of the panellists who will be contributing their expertise and brilliant perspectives are women I met through courses and communities. Not only are they generous friends, but they’re super-smart business owners who have been around the block multiple times and have tested wisdom and experience to share.

One of the communities that has made a huge difference for me recently is led by Linda Sidhu. She’s one of those expert connectors who always knows just the right person you should talk to about a specific question or problem. Many of the panellists in the event I’ll be sharing with you next week are part of her community!

So while I’m incredibly picky about the Summits and bundles I participate in, the one she’s opened up today was a no-brainer for me. This is a curated set of resources from established, successful business owners who are fantastic at what they do and also incredibly generous, kind humans — no bro marketing or hustle culture in sight. Oh and it’s all free.
